KINGDOM CITY — North Callaway wingbacks Vance Allen and Justin Menard combined for 208 yards rushing and four touchdowns Thursday night, and the surging Thunderbirds opened Class 2, District 6 play by easily handling Hermann 34-14.
The victory was the eighth in a row for No. 3 seed North Callaway (8-2), which could be headed toward a showdown with No. 2 South Callaway in the district semifinals next Wednesday night. The No. 2 seed Bulldogs (8-1) — ranked No. 10 in the state — host No. 7 Lutheran (St. Peters) (3-5) in their first district game tonight.
The Thunderbirds opened the season with a 27-13 loss to South Callaway in Kingdom City.
