Fulton Colleges Board to celebrate 50th year of financing scholarships

On Tuesday the Fulton Colleges Board of Associates, an organization that provides scholarships to Callaway County students, will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Past and present members will be honored during a dinner Tuesday evening at William Woods University.

The Board of Associates will honor six remaining original members. The are O.T. Harris, John Harris, Dale Brady, L.E. Lewis, Richard White and Dr. George Groce. Former presidents also will be introduced.

The organization was founded to foster local interest in the two colleges and to aid local students by providing funding for scholarships.

The Board of Associates has been financing scholarships each year to Callaway County high school graduates who attend either Westminster College or William Woods University.

This year two dozen students received scholarships from the Board of Associates. The drive by the organization to raise funds for the 2013-14 academic year started in August.
