Carols, candy canes and Christmas decorations will be in abundance in downtown Fulton Friday night for the annual Holiday Open House.

Jenny Wiles, manager of Center Court Office Supplies and president of the newly-renamed Brick District Retail Association, said the annual event will start, as usual, with the unveiling and judging of the holiday window decorations at 5 p.m.

In keeping with previous years, the annual holiday event also will feature extended shopping hours at participating downtown businesses, carriage rides, the Fulton Sun’s Candy Cane House which will have prizes donated by area businesses, kettle corn, caroling from Fulton school choirs and carriage rides from J&R Carriage.

“At 8:30 we’ll have a prize drawing for four $100 gift certificates to be spent in downtown businesses,” Wiles said.

She said she enjoys the open house every year because “it’s kind of the beginning of the holiday shopping season, and it gets people downtown and thinking about Christmas.”

Susan Pappas, manager of the Red Cross Pharmacy — which had a popular window display featuring a live dancer last year — said she looks forward to continuing the tradition every year.
