Zerr wins treasurer by 3,000 vote margin

Republican Debbie Zerr was elected Tuesday as the new Callaway County treasurer, defeating Democrat Timothy C. Brady, 10,302 to 7,115, a margin of 59 percent to 41 percent.

Zerr and Brady were competing to succeed Callaway County Treasurer Marsha Chism, who is retiring at the end of her term this year after serving in the office for the last 28 years.

"I appreciate all of the support of the voters and their expression of confidence in me. The margin of victory is gratifying and I will do my best to serve the people of Callaway County to the best of my ability," Zerr said.

Zerr said she looks forward to providing good customer service to people who use the office.

"I would like to bring modern technology into the office and move forward to making the office paperless if that is feasible and affordable by the county," Zerr said.
