Schulte’s perfection, Bowden’s no-hitter power Lady Owls

William Woods University pitchers Kelsey Schulte and MacKenzie Bowden were masterful in befuddling Benedictine University-Springfield.

Schulte threw a perfect game and Bowden tossed her second no-hitter in as many conference starts, and surging William Woods coasted to an easy sweep of Wednesday afternoon’s American Midwest Conference doubleheader at Backer Field.

The Lady Owls pulled out a 2-0 victory in the opener and then broke out for a 10-0, five-inning blowout in the second game. William Woods — winners of three in a row and 10 of its last 11 — improved to 18-11 overall and is tied for first place in the AMC with Park University at 4-0.
