Two people injured in two-vehicle crash

Two New Bloomfield residents were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 54 north of New Bloomfield.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when Darren B. Yancy, 24, Columbia, was westbound in a 2001 Toyota on U.S. 54 about 1.7 miles east of the Route J intersection at New Bloomfield.

The patrol reported Yancy, also traveling westbound, was following too closely. He was distracted and struck the rear of a 1985 Chevrolet driven by Benjamin T. Wilson, 55, New Bloomfield.

Wilson had minor injuries. A passenger in his car, Denise M. Lucas, 36, New Bloomfield, had serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
