Three new faces toss names into Fulton school board race

Three new candidates have filed for the two open seats on the Fulton School Board after longtime board member Rick Gohring announced last week his decision not to return for another term.

Kathy Brandon and David "Rob" Hunter, who both ran last year, and Kristie Donahue all have put their names in the ring for the opportunity to help lead Fulton Public Schools.

Brandon said she decided to run again because, "I think there still are a lot of changes that need to be made for the district as far as community involvement."

"I think I'm very familiar with the issues facing the district in terms of programs used in the district and looking at if the curriculum are good for the district," she said.

Hunter said he also decided to run again because of concerns about the district.

"I've been closely following the board for about three years ... I just wasn't really pleased with the direction everything is going in the district," he said. "For example, the early out I think is a dismal failure, and I continue to seek an end to that."
