State bike championship time trials set Saturday

Event on Missouri 94 in Callaway County

Motorists traveling in Callaway County on Missouri Highway 94 Saturday morning have been urged to use extra care because the highway will be used for the 2012 Missouri State Bicycle Championship time trials.

Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, competing bikers will race against the clock along a 12.5 mile course on Missouri 94, a relatively flat asphalt-surface roadway along the Missouri River. The event is expected to last most of the day.

All lanes of Missouri 94 will remain open to regular vehicle traffic during the time trials. Bikers also will be traveling in the driving lane for the duration of the all-day event.

Drivers are asked to follow behind the cyclists until it is clear to pass and then use extreme caution when passing.

The 20K, or 12.5-mile, course will have competition in the senior 25-mile categories - which is a round trip along the course - and junior one-way 12.5-mile categories.
