No. 9 Bulldogs prioritize implications

MOKANE - With all of the significant consequences attached, the state-ranked South Callaway Bulldogs are concentrating on a secondary one that is equally important to them.

No. 9 South Callaway closes out the regular season tonight with a Class 2, District 9 home game against Hermann (kickoff at 7). A win assures the Bulldogs (8-1, 2-0) of a second straight District 9 title and a return to the state playoffs for a fourth year in a row.

While South Callaway is obviously targeting those lofty objectives, the Bulldogs want to mark senior night with a victory.

"It's one of the goals the seniors set; they said that they wanted to win senior night," South Callaway head coach Tim Rulo said Tuesday night after practice. "We're going to focus on that goal. Now, are there other ramifications based on that goal? Yeah.

"Sometimes we get our eyes distracted when we focus too much with all of that peripheral stuff. ... When your focus isn't on the things right at hand, right in front of you, that's when problems happen."
