AUXVASSE - School districts are getting in step to make sure their policies reflect a new state law that was passed earlier this year designed to protect students from sexual misconduct from teachers.
During its regular board of education meeting Thursday in Auxvasse, North Callaway School District updated four of its policies to make sure they included wording to protect both students and the district in cases of abuse.
One such addition to the district's policies included adding the following line to the student welfare policy: "If a student reports alleged sexual misconduct on the part of a teacher, or school employee, to a school employee, such employee and the superintendent shall forward the information within twenty-four hours of receiving the information to the Children's Division."
