KINGDOM CITY - The third quarter of North Callaway's homecoming game against Hermann couldn't have started off any worse. Within two minutes, the T-Birds found themselves down a touchdown and down their starting quarterback, junior Jacob Haubner.
No big deal, though. Haubner's injury gave way to freshman Cole Branson and the first-year signal caller was up to the challenge.
Branson rushed for 13 yards on nine second half carries - scoring three touchdowns - to help North Callaway to a 32-28 win over Hermann on Friday night.
Branson got the call to with Haubner hobbling off the field with an injured ankle and the team down 20-14. North Callaway (2-4) only threw the ball seven times after that and instead let its run game help move the chains.
