Usually held in July as its own event, this year the Miss Callaway County Queen pageant will be featured at the Fulton Street Fair.

The pageant will be held from 2-4 p.m. on June 18 on the Fifth Street stage. Young ladies who are residents of the county will compete for the titles of Junior Miss or Miss, depending on their age.

Taylor Bryant is the current Miss Callaway and is also organizing the competition. Bryant said there were two main reasons for making the pageant a part of the fair festivities. One was to make the duties of Miss Callaway more community-oriented instead of primarily focused on the Callaway County Fair. She said the queen should be involved in community events all year round during her term, instead of only at the fair as in past years.
