A new 8-foot wide asphalt walking and biking trail will be constructed this summer between the YMCA of Callaway County and Fulton High School.
YMCA Director Patty Miller appeared before the Fulton City Council Tuesday night and reported she is in danger of losing one of two $20,000 grants she has to help pay for the project if the city does not start the joint YMCA and city project before the end of August.
The original plan for the trail was developed four years ago. At that time, Fulton Public Schools were scheduled to help pay costs. But Miller said the school district now can only afford to grant an easement on its property for the project.
