Two book sales are scheduled this week in Fulton. One is the annual Fall in Love with Good Books Sale at William Woods University and the other is the annual book sale by the Friends of Callaway County Public Library.

Sales were brisk Wednesday during the annual Fall in Love with Good Books Sale in the hallway of the William Woods Academic Building just outside the library.

Katricia Pierson, a WWU English professor and faculty sponsor of the event, said "the English Honor Society deeply appreciates the support we receive from the Fulton community with this annual book sale."

The book sale includes a wide variety of books ranging from novels, craft books on many subjects and cookbooks to paperbacks and even textbooks.

"Each year William Woods University students and faculty are urged to ask their families and friends to donate books for the annual sale. We receive a tremendous collection," Pierson said.

The event is sponsored by the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society at the university.

"The book sale helps pay expenses for an annual competition of young writers in Callaway County who compete from kindergarten through the eighth grade," Pierson said. "The book sale helps pay for binding books of winners of the competition. In April the winning students will come to William Woods and read their contest submissions."

During the sale, hardback books are sold for $1, paperbacks for 50 cents and books for children are 50 cents each.

The Fall in Love with Good Books Sale in the WWU Academic Hall continues through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The Friends of the Callaway County Public Library organization also is having its regular book sale at the library from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. All proceeds from the sale will benefit library programs and services at the Callaway County Public Library, 710 Court St.

A pre-sale for members of the Friends of the Callaway County Public Library will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday.

Anyone who is not a member can attend the pre-sale by joining the Friends of the Callaway County Public Library at the door of the book sale. The membership is $4 for individuals and $10 per family.

During the sale, hardback books will be offered for $1 each and all paperback books will be priced at 50 cents each.
