JC school bus involved in minor accident

A bus carrying 39 Jefferson City Public School students was involved in what district officials described as a minor accident Wednesday morning.

According to school district reports, the accident occurred at 7:15 a.m. on Van Horn Drive in Holts Summit.

Bus No. 47, carrying students from Simonsen 9th Grade Center and Lewis and Clark Middle School, was struck in the rear.

According to Holts Summit police reports, the driver who rear-ended the bus, Deborah Eiken, 51, Holts Summit, was cited for following too close to a vehicle.

The bus stopped, and she tried to stop but her car hit the rear bumper of the bus.
