FPD: Lock your car

The Fulton Police Department is encouraging Fulton residents to be careful about what they leave in their vehicles - and lock their doors - after a recent rash of thefts.

Maj. Roger Rice said there have been more than 20 reports over the past two months alone of items being taken from vehicles parked around town and in residential areas.

"My best advice, if you have something you don't want stolen, is take it in the house or put it in the trunk and lock it," Rice said. "At the very least, lock your car - no car has been broken into."

He said there has been no pattern to the thefts - which include items such as cell phones, laptop computers, cameras and money - aside from the fact that most of them have occurred at night.

"It seems like it started on the south and happened there more often, but then it started on the north side too," Rice said.
