Michael Shine is the Jefferson City government reporter for the News Tribune. He grew up in Florida and spent a year in southern Arkansas then a year and a half in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, covering education before coming to Jefferson City in February 2021. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
