Harry Ray Baker, 88, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at his home. He was born on December 10, 1933, in Cedar City, Missouri, a son of the late Elmer and Lottie Mae (Steinmetz) Baker. Harry was united in marriage to Martha Sue Crump on February 19, 1955 in Fulton, Mo. He was the valedictorian of his 1951 graduating class of New Bloomfield High School. In 1956 he was drafted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Specialist 3rd Class. He earned a certificate in electronics from DeVry University. From 1979 until his retirement in 1999 he worked in the print shop for the Missouri State Senate. Through the years he also worked for the Public Service Commission, Missouri Highway Department and the Spalding APCO Service Station. Harry also farmed through 1993. He spent several years as treasurer and Sunday school teacher at Providence Baptist Church. Harry was also an avid hunter and fisher. He enjoyed bowling and dancing with Sue. Most of all he cherished memories made with this family. Harry is survived by his wife, Sue of Holts Summit; daughters, Cindy English (Phil) of Jefferson City and Susan Miller of Wardsville; brother, Roger Baker (Jan) of Holts Summit; and grandchildren, Lacy Rice (David), Lindsey Miller, Shelby Miller (Aaron Rollins); great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Jackson, and Adalynn Rice. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer A. Baker, Charles W. Baker, Karl S. Baker; and his twin sister, Carrie M. Berry. Friends will be received on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel with service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Providence Baptist Church, PO Box 157, New Bloomfield, MO 65063 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
