John Frederic "Fred" March, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Fulton Manor. He was born August 1, 1937, in Fulton, the son of the late John Jack March and the late Opal Marie (Tucker) March. Fred was a proud United States Army Veteran, serving his country during the Berlin Crisis, Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam Era. After completing his service, he worked as a Probation and Parole officer for the State of Missouri, until retirement. Fred found joy in his life of retirement by spending time with his family, friends at the VFW Post 2567, barbecuing, and mowing the Tanglewood Golf Course for 19 years. He is best known for his storytelling. Those remaining to mourn his passing include his son, Joe March (Mandy); daughter, Angela Schmidt (Aaron); brother, Charles March; four grandchildren, Michael and Lily Schmidt, Marley and Maddie March; sisters-in-law, Susie Ethal and Debby March; four nieces and nephews, Jennifer Brady (Dale), Andy March (Kim), Jimmy March (Cheryl), and Wendy Stevenson. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Roxanne Verwys. Fred is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William March; nephew, Mike March. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Joseph Abah officiating. The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday August 29, 2022, at Maupin Funeral Home. Prayers of the Holy Rosary followed the visitation. Interment was held at Callaway Memorial Gardens with military honors.
