Geneva Kay (Helmig) Morris, 82, was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Westbury Senior Living in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on August 29, 1939, in Fulton, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Genive (Herring) Perdue and Earl Irving Helmig. Kay's step-father, Ernest Albert Dick, raised her from a young age and played an important role in her life. On August 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to John William Robert (Bob) Morris. Kay began her professional career as a secretary with Danuser Machine Company, Fulton, Missouri. She became a trained Ophthalmic Medical Technologist and her career spanned from 1965-1997. She worked alongside Dr. Vernon Jackson, MD, at the Missouri State Hospital in Fulton, Missouri for many years, and continued to advance her career at the practice of Dr. Roger Bonham, MD, in Columbia, Missouri. She took great pride in her work. She enjoyed hosting holiday and family dinners, working at the historical society, gardening, painting, sewing, and fishing. Kay and her husband enjoyed socializing with friends and travelled extensively. Kay was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and loved her church. Kay was a very loving and caring woman. Her strength of character and her strong religious faith carried her through her long battle with cancer. Although she will be missed, her family rejoices that she is now with her Lord and Savior. Kay's family would like to thank the many friends and church members that volunteered in Kay's care by helping with transporting her to numerous medical visits and providing emotional support during her last years of life. Kay's memory will be treasured by her sister and brother-in-law, Fay and Tom Fisher of Starkville, Mississippi, her brother Ray Dick of Cartersville, Georgia, and nineteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Eva May and Loyd Sims of Fulton, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Maupin Funeral Home with Mike Hibbard officiating. Friends will be received from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
