William Muenks

William Peter Muenks Jr., age 72, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at University of Louisville Hospital. Bill was born on December 15, 1949, in Jefferson City, Mo. to William Peter Muenks Sr and Dorothy (Lechner) Muenks. Bill grew up in Fulton, Mo. where he graduated from Fulton High School in 1969. Bill was very active in sports. He was captain of his high school football team and was a heavy weight wrestler who took second place in the State High School Championship in 1969. He attended college at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Mo. Bill had a varied career working mining for several years handling explosives. He worked for several years as a mental health technician at both Charter Hospital of Paducah and later at Memorial Hospital and Health Care in Jasper, Ind. Bill married Bert Hayward in 1982 in Lake Charles, La. They moved to Tell City, Ind. in 1990 from Kevil, Ky., where they had lived for five years. Bill was a devoted family man who was very active in his children’s activities. He coached Little League Baseball as well as girls' softball teams. He was also an active Girl Scout parent and was an assistant to his daughter's girl scout leader. Bill’s most favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping and boating. Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bert (Hayward) Muenks; his son, Bradley Muenks (Shannon) of Greer, S.C.; two daughters, Shawne Ginger of Tell City, Ind. and Katie Adcock (Justin) of Dale , Ind.; seven granddaughters, Bailey Burns of Greenville, S.C., Breana Burns and Sophie Muenks of Greer , S.C., Ashley, Rylee and Zoey Adcock of Dale, Ind., and Stephanie Ginger of Tell City , Ind.; and three honorary grandchildren, Mercedes Mendez of Tell City, Ind., Javier Mendez of Central City, Ky., and Gabrielle Ginger of Evansville, Ind. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Frankie Muenks; and his two sisters, Mary Muenks and Nancy Muenks Pike. Per Bill's wishes a private service will be held at the old ferry landing in Tobinsport.
