Christopher Edward Althaus, 61, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Boone Hospital. Chris was born on January 25, 1961, to the late Jack and Sue (Rodgers) Althaus. On September 10, 1983, Chris was united in marriage to his wife, Kathy (Detwiler) Althaus. She survives his passing. Chris enjoyed Blues music and spent time going to Blues festivals or finding local Blues talent and attending with friends. Chris enjoyed playing Corn Hole and made many Corn Hole sets for family and friends, each with a specific theme designed with that person in mind. Chris enjoyed looking through antique shops and flea markets with his wife. Chris enjoyed cooking and was renowned for his smoked ribs. Chris' favorite time spent with friends was around a campfire telling stories and reminiscing. Chris enjoyed his six grandchildren and being the "Tickle Monster" to them. Chris was a diehard Bears, Cubs, and Illini fan, until the kneeling began and the players not being present for the Star Spangled Banner. Chris was a very patriotic person and at this time stopped watching or supporting any sports. Chris worked many jobs throughout his life. Chris was in the car business at Perry Chevrolet and Truck Center and was a Service Writer for Premier Automotive. Chris worked at Central Electric for a number of years, spent a year at Crown Power and Equipment in Jefferson City, about a year at Kwik Parts, and the remaining 25 years at Modern Farm/Henderson Implement in the Parts Department and as a Service Writer. Chris took pride and was dedicated to supplying great service to his customers. Chris was a devoted family man, loved his family, his Country, and his God. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Zachary Althaus (Chelsie) of Jefferson City and Nathan Althaus of Fulton;  son-in-law, Dustin Holman of Steedman; father-in-law, Don Detwiler of Fulton; brothers, Bill Althaus (DeAnna) of Paxton, Ill. and Pat Althaus (Vicki) of Quincy, Ill.; sister, Cindy Bacon of St. Joseph, Ill.; grandchildren, Madison Althaus, Brayden Althaus, Preston Holman, Kassen Althaus, Connor Althaus, Kennedy Althaus and one granddaughter on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Sarah M. Althaus. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private Interment will be at Hams Prairie Cemetery.
