Donald Howard Beckley

Donald "Don" Howard Beckley, 79, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on October 29, 1942, to the late Clarence Morgan and Viola Rose (Salmons) Beckley in Fulton, Missouri. He was united in marriage on November 25, 1971, to Mildred "Millie" Mae Edwards in Jefferson City, Missouri Don attended Fulton High School. At age 17, he joined the United States Marines for which he served from 1963 until 1967. While stationed in Japan, he climbed to the top of Mount Fuji which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was a dedicated employee of the Missouri Department of Corrections for over 30 years. Upon his retirement, he worked for Railwood Golf Course in Jefferson City. Don enjoyed golfing, bowling, canoeing the Current River with his wife, traveling and going on cruises, and racing modified cars. Don took his sobriety very seriously and was very involved in his local Alcoholics Anonymous chapter. Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Millie Mae; children, Wesley Palmer (Janelle), Diana Beckley, and Sarah Wilbers (Dylan); step-children, Becky Goodrick (Bill), Jeanie Hill (Richard), Debra Gillispie; grandchildren, Brittney, Natalie, Ashley, Emily, Wesley Jr., Lindsey, Tyler, Jacob, Zach, Bristol, Gatlin, Boone, John, Nicole, Megan, Erin, Rebecca, Brooks, Andria, and Devin; siblings, Gary Beckley and Lora Adell Martin (James); and numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Verona Kay. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Don Synder officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
