Donald Wayne Garriott

Donald Wayne Garriott, age 84 of Fulton, passed away at the Capital Region Medical Center June 27, 2022. Known by family and friends as "Boots," he was born on April 18, 1938, in Bluffton, Missouri, the son of the late William Royal "Dutch" Garriott and the late Ida Marie (Polacek) Garriott. On October 20, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Dean (Winingear) Garriott who survives his passing. Don retired from Harbison Walker in 1998, after 34 years. From family gatherings, playing cards, road trips, riding horses and working his farm to enjoying coffee with his buddies at McDonalds, Don was happiest enjoying life's simple pleasures. He will always be remembered for his ready smile and his sense of family, loyalty, honesty and fairness. Those remaining to mourn his passing include his wife, Dean; children, Deborrah Southern (Jerry) of Shawnee, Ks, David Garriott, Susan Garriott, and Jeff Garriott (Sherie), all of Fulton; brothers, Edward Garriott (Maxine), Dale Garriott (Hazel), Vernon Garriott, Garry Garriott, Randy Garriott, and Charles Garriott (Linda); sister, Shirley Spyers; sister-in-law, Tillie Garriott, all of Callaway County; Clyde Garriott of LaPlata, Md.; grandchildren, Kelli Holland, Jon Southern (Dina), Kristi Wendering, Trevor Garriott (Regan) and Trent Garriott; six great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Karly, Jaden, Eddie, Jasmine and Mia and two great-great-grandsons, Kason and Kyrell. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Case and her husband Ralph; brother, Leroy Garriott, and sisters-in-law, Jeanie Garriott, Gerry Garriott, and Margaret Garriott. The family plans to have a Celebration of Life for Don at a later date.
