Nancy A. Gerhart (Heller) entered the presence of The Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Nancy was born in 1937 in Allentown, Pa. She was the oldest of three children born to Philip and Thelma Heller. She had two brothers, David and Greg. Nancy graduated from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, having received a scholarship to attend nursing school. She married her college sweetheart, Norman, and they had three daughters: Debbie, Patti (Mike), and Susie (Jeff). Her younger brother Greg was like a son to her, spending many summers with the family. Nancy dearly loved her grandchildren: Ryan, Savannah (Jason), Tyler, and Samuel (Caitlin); and great-grandchildren: Noah, Bo, and Albert. Nancy loved people, and she arranged many gatherings with family and friends. Her vivacious nature will be missed by many. Her faith was very important to her. It kept her going through some of life's challenges, and her testimony uplifted numerous people. Over the years, Nancy and Norm lived in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and several Missouri communities. Nancy was primarily a homemaker when her children were small, but volunteered and taught Sunday school at St. Paul's. When the children were older she worked at various nursing and teaching jobs. Her favorite jobs were learning to sign as a teacher's aide at the Missouri School for the Deaf and running Presbyterian Manor as the director of nursing. Nancy enjoyed singing, gardening, painting, and writing poetry throughout her life. In later life, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Fulton Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society in Fulton (among others). At Lenoir Woods, Nancy especially loved singing in the Vesper Choir, participating in Bible studies and playing board games. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Greg (Mary Rose), her nieces and their families, and other relatives. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Norm, and her brother, David. Nancy's family is thankful to everyone at Lenoir Woods where she lived for the past 10 years. Memorial and burial services will be private. Contributions in memory of Nancy can be made to the Missouri School for the Deaf Welfare Fund to benefit children in need, Lenoir Woods Benevolent Fund, Trinity Lutheran Church or Missouri United Methodist Church (c/o Maupin Funeral Home). Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
