Donnie Eugene Boffa Sr

Donnie Eugene Boffa Sr., age 69, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Donnie was born on June 7, 1952, in Fulton, Mo., the son of Martin and Phyllis (Durossette) Boffa. He was married on December 5, 1970, in Fulton, Mo. to Phyllis Matteson and his two children were born from this marriage. Donnie was later married in February 1, 1992, to Sandra Walls in Fulton, Mo. and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2018. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Donnie was a 1970 graduate of Fulton High School. He later graduated from Linn State Technical College with an Associate's Degree to help him become an Auto Mechanic. Donnie realized from an early age that he enjoyed work using his hands and had a gift for fixing things. He began his professional career working with different auto shops as a mechanic in Fulton, Mo. and also helped his father at the family business, Boffa and Sons Phillips 66 Station. He later became a member of the Central Missouri Carpenter's Union and worked for Ameren UE at the Callaway Nuclear Plant. He retired as a process technician at Oscar Mayer Kraft Foods in Columbia, Mo. During his retirement he moved back to Jefferson City to be closer to his family. Donnie had a passion for the outdoors and was at home in nature, especially when he was accompanied with his kids. He looked forward to time hunting and fishing the streams, lakes and rivers throughout central Missouri. He loved searching for mushrooms and arrowheads with his kids and grandchildren and enjoyed cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. Some of his favorite memories were spending quality time with family at barbeques. He will be remembered for being a kind and friendly soul, who was quick with a smile and a laugh. Donnie was never too busy for a friend in need and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family and all who knew him. Survivors include: two children, Donnie Boffa Jr. (Terri) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Michelle Backues (Brad) of Holts Summit, Mo.; two step-children, Don Walls (Maria) of O'Fallon, Mo. and Jenna Poidomani of Bailey, Colo..; one sister-in-law, Willene Manning of Bullhead Bluff, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Kyle Boffa, Michael Boffa (Shelbi), Daniel Boffa (Cassandra), Alyssia Thorpe, Dashawn Thorpe, Jennifer Backues, Garrett Backues (Amber), Justin Backues, Mercedes Singleton (Cody), Levi Polacek, and Brandon Backues; four step-grandchildren, Jackson Walls, Eliana Walls, Taegon Poidomani and Piah Pipes; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandy; one sister, Mary Lynn Boffa; and a grandson, Isaiah Boffa. A private family gathering will be held to honor Donnie.
