Mary Holst

Mary Holst, 73, of Blackwater, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Riverdell Care Center in Boonville, Mo. Mary S. Holst was born April 21, 1948, in Callaway County, Mo., a daughter to the late James and Mattie (Atterberry) Newsom. She was a 1966 graduate of Fulton High School. Mary lived in Williamsburg, Mo. for a number of years, and while she was there, she worked as a licensed beautician. She later worked as an administrative secretary for the Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring in 2007. On June 10, 2007, she married Carl Holst in Howard County, Mo. Mary loved studying genealogy, sewing, and she enjoyed participating in historical reenactments. Survivors include her husband, Carl Holst of Blackwater, Mo.; four sisters, Cora Wood of Williamsburg, Mo., Shirley Elliott of Granbury, Texas, Mattie Laswell of Fulton, Mo. and Esther (Mike) Quinlan of Perry, Mo.; and one brother, John Drullinger of Wichita Falls, Txas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service honoring Mrs. Holst's life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, Mo., with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Visitation will be held an hour before the service starting at noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette, Mo.
