Wilma Metz

Wilma Sue Metz, 86, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, with her husband Jim and daughter Diana holding her hand with love. She was born on November 26, 1936, in Fulton Mo to the late Bill Keith and the late Helen (Curtis) Keith. Wilma was united in marriage to James L. Metz on June 16, 1955. He survives her passing. She was a 1954 graduate of Fulton High School. She was involved in various organizations during her early years with her daughter including GAs at Fulton First Baptist Church, Brownies and Girl Scout Troops and Job’s Daughters. Wilma was past president of the General Federation of Women’s Club of Missouri from 1986-1988. Wilma was previously employed at the Fulton Police Dept., Callaway Country Circuit Clerks office, and retired from the Callaway County Public Administrator’s office. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, in Fulton Mo. Jim and Wilma loved to travel and had visited 40 states and Canada. Wilma loved her country music. For Mother’s Day in 1987, Diana took her to a Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty concert, including front row seats and backstage passes to their dressing rooms. She loved to tell the story of how she “helped Loretta Lynn get the wad of gum out of her hair!” She had a great sense of humor. Wilma is survived by her husband James and daughter Diana Metz Ross. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service was held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Maupin Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Dunger Peak officiating. Friends were received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment was in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
