Theodor Ted Twasczuk

Theodor (Ted) Iwasczuk, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo. He was born October 31, 1936, in Washington Park, East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late Dmytro Iwasczuk and Mary (Mokry) Iwasczuk and is predeceased by his brother, Steve Iwasczuk and sister-in-law, Jeri Iwasczuk. He was united in marriage on May 4, 1963, to Pauline Bruns in Overland, Mo. Ted proudly served in the United States Army, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Fort MacArthur, Calif. and Fort Rosecrans, Calif. from 1959 to 1961, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman (Rifle), Expert (Carbine), plus two years in active reserve in the Transportation Corps in Wisconsin and two years inactive reserve. He previously worked at H. K. Porter Refractories in St. Louis, Mo. and Fulton, also with A. P. Green Refractories in Fulton, Mo, and worked for the Assessor's Office at the Callaway County Courthouse from 1991 to 1996. Ted never knew a stranger and enjoyed fishing, traveling, singing and music. He bowled in a league for many years and after his retirement, began woodworking as a hobby, making many cherished items, especially those made for his grandchildren, and loved spending time with them playing cards, and having fun with them. Survivors include: Pauline (Bruns) Iwasczuk of the home; three children, Tamara Welsh (Charles) of San Jose, Calif., Cheryl Richterkessing of Columbia, Mo., and Kevin Iwasczuk (Sherry) of Fayette, Mo.; his grandchildren, Conrad Welsh and Catherine Welsh of San Jose, Calif., Adam Richterkessing of Kirkwood, Mo., and Aaron Richterkessing of Centralia, Mo. A special thanks to the Missouri Veterans Home at Mexico, for all the love and care given to him by the staff and employees over the past few years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Debo Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City, Mo. with full military honors.
