Helen Louise Brewer

Helen Louise Brewer, 78, of Portland, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Kingdom Care Senior Living in Fulton. She was born on February 6, 1944, in Callaway County, the daughter of the late Samuel Leslie Rains and the late Emma (DeBrodie) Branch. On September 28, 1959, Helen was united in marriage to James Brewer who survives her passing. For many years, Helen worked in the transportation department for South Callaway Public Schools. Whether hunting for mushrooms, horseback riding, or looking for arrowheads with her grandchildren, Helen loved to be outdoors. She passed her love of nature and knowledge of the outdoors on to her grandchildren.Helen also enjoyed spending time with her husband and learning as much as she could about her Native American heritage. Helen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Jim; sons, Dale Brewer (Cathy), Danny Brewer (Kimberly), Leslie Brewer (Lisa), Darrell Brewer (Loretta), and Richard Brewer (Heather); daughters, Martha Hays, and Melinda Brewer; honorary son, Robert "Bob" Gaebe (Jan); brother, Lonzo Roy Branch; and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by step-father, Roy Branch; and brother, Frankie DeBrodie. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Victory Fellowship Church in Fulton.
