Barbara Jean Easley

Barbara Jean Easley, 80, of Holts Summit, went to be with the angels on Sunday, January 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family at Capital Region Medical Center. She was a true warrior that fought hard to overcome her cancer diagnosis. She was born in Iuka, Illinois on September 2, 1940, to the late Verl W. Bartley and the late Viola Berniece (Halterman) Bartley. On July 16, 1960, Barbara was united in marriage to Charles (Chuck) Easley, who survives her passing at the family home along with their fur-kids, Toby and Bella, or as she would affectionately call them "The Kids." Barbara was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and Mizzou football. It was a rare occasion that she and Chuck ever missed watching a game on TV, and if they did have to miss it then you knew you'd hear the games playing on a radio somewhere close by. She was a shopping enthusiast and her favorite place to go was SAMS Club. You would never catch her with a hair out of place or without some kind of bling on, she was the true definition of stylish and glamorous. Barbara and Chuck were snowbirds and would trade the cold Missouri winters for the hot winters in Texas, and you could often find them crossing over into Mexico to enjoy a strong margarita on the rocks. For more than 30 years Barbara worked as the parts clerk at Fabick Cat in Jefferson City. She was also a beloved member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693 Women's Auxiliary in Jefferson City. She will be dearly missed by her son, Shawn Easley (Stephanie) of Fulton; daughter, Cheri Grothoff (Doug) of New Bloomfield; sister, Marilyn Morlan of Salem, Illinois; grandchildren, Doug Peters (Brooke), Derek Peters, Holli Wyatt, Brock Burton (Megan), Brittany Burton, Colten Easley, Caitlyn Easley, and Bailey Easley; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Paige, Natalee, Carsen, Graysen, Sophia, and Maleeya. Barbara was met at the gates by her parents, Verl and Viola, and her brother-in-law, Dave Morlan. A celebration of life will be held at United Methodist Church in New Bloomfield with Pastor Jeannie Dudenhoffer on Saturday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
