Otis Woodrow "Popcorn" Byrd Jr., 78, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Fulton Medical Center. He was born in Fulton on February 8, 1942, a son of Nellie Gertrude (Henderson) Byrd and Otis Woodrow Byrd Sr. Otis was married to Alfreda (Jackson) Byrd on April 13, 1974. She survives at their home. Otis attended George Washington Carver Elementary School and Fulton High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was an honorary member of Rotary. Born with a caring soul, Otis took care of many elderly people throughout the community. In addition to his wife, Otis is also survived by daughter, Tamala Byrd; grandsons, Rasaleigh Byrd-Pittman, and Otion Byrd-Pittman; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Byrd (Anna) of McPherson, William Byrd of Fulton, Ella Mae Williams of Kingdom City, Jerry Byrd of Fulton, Garry Byrd of McPherson, Ann Gross (James); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Natasha Byrd, and Natassja Byrd; brothers, Richard Byrd, and Robert Byrd; and sister, Carolyn Fisher. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Private burial will be held at a later date in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
