Richard E. "Dick" Wilson, 94, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital. He was born on February 5, 1926, in Willow Island, Nebraska, a son of the late Chauncey E. Wilson and Gladys Greenwood (Gates) Wilson. On September 19, 1964, Dick was united in marriage to Barbara Lee (Logan) Wilson. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2009. Dick served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946, in the South Pacific and the Philippines. He enrolled in the University of Nebraska on the GI Bill and graduated in 1950. He worked for newspapers in North East Nebraska and Central Iowa until the owner was killed in a plane crash. He joined Traveler's Insurance Company and worked in Omaha, St. Louis, and Kansas City, where he was assistant manager in the property and casualty department. In 1967, he joined Dave Baker at Atkinson/Baker Agency. After Dave's death in 1974, he became owner of Atkinson-Baker-Wilson Agency and in 1990, sold the business to Tom and Lori Clapp. During his time in Fulton, he served as President of the Rotary Club, where he was awarded the McCallister award in 2005, charter member of the Callaway Physicians Board for 25 years and served as President of Board of Associates. Survivors include daughter, Susan Gates "Susi" Wilson of Fulton; and son, Christopher Shea Wilson of New Mexico; nephew, Mark Austin; and family members dear to Susan, cousin, Brent E. Wilson; and aunt, Marie Logan. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Steve Mallinckrodt officiating. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. It is requested that those attended please wear masks. Interment with Military Honors will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
