Billy Dean Raines, "Bill", 88 of Fulton, Missouri, passed away March 23, 2020, at Stonebridge Adams Street in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born in Whitehall, Illinois to Bertha (Pickering) and Oren Lee Raines. When he was approximately 12 years old Bill and his family moved to Fulton, Missouri. There he met the love of his life, Betty Wickell, and they married on January 12, 1948. She passed away nine months before him. Bill and Betty traveled the United States as well as England, Scotland and Australia. Bill's name is on the patent for a nursing home bed called the "Big Boy Bed" which he marketed worldwide. Their favorite destinations were Hawaii and wherever their children, family and friends lived. He is survived by his son, Steve Raines and his wife Annette; daughter, Deborah Raines and her husband Bill Boyson; grandsons, Nick Raines and his wife Reba; Matthew Heitner and his wife Heather; Jesse Heitner; and great-granddaughter, Miranda Raines; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three siblings, Jim, Joyce, and Helen. The last stanza of a poem written by Bill, May 29, 1967, hallmarked his life: So go through each day as if it's the last, Being kind to all that you see. And the "One" who has planned every day in the past, Will surely take care of thee. No services will be held. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
