Marian "Faye" Gowin, 83, of Fulton, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Fulton Manor. She was born on July 26, 1935, in Fulton, the daughter of the late Ben Mirts and the late Anna (McKim) Mirts. On Christmas Eve of 1953, Faye married Frank E. Gowin. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2001. Faye attended Fulton High School. For 40 years, she worked as a beautician; 25 years at Mickey's Beauty Salon, and 15 years at Fulton State Hospital. She and Frank also ran a salvage yard for many years. Faye enjoyed reading and collecting cookbooks. Her family and grandchildren were always the most important thing in her life. She also enjoyed taking care of her faithful companion, Chico. Faye was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. Those remaining to cherish her memory include daughter, Cindy Crabtree (Bill) of Fulton; sisters, June Pinkerton of Columbia, and Dorothy Norris of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, Melanie McCray (Mike), Matthew Crabtree, and Derek Crabtree; great-grandchildren, Brock and Quinton McCray; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Faye was preceded in death by son, Mark Gowin; brothers, Wayne, Paul, Tom, and Delbert Mirts; and sister, Alberta Miller. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
