Margaret Ann Williamson Harris, 83, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, at University Hospital in Columbia. She was born on August 20, 1935, to Charles H. Williamson and Margaret E. (Fairfield) Williamson of Jacksonville, Illinois. Margaret married John J. Harris on August 4, 1960. He survives her passing. Margaret attended grade school, high school, college and church in the same block. After undergraduate study, she was selected to be a member of the first class in music therapists under the direction of E. Thayer Gaston, the founder of music therapy at the University of Kansas. Margaret was a woman of countless talents and interests. Most notable at the age of 14, she began serving churches throughout her life as an organist and keyboard player. Margaret provided this service to St. Peter Catholic Church for 46 years. She retired from Fulton State Hospital and her music therapy career in 1995. Along with her husband, Margaret is survived by three children, Andy Harris and Grace Calvert of Cedar Rapid, Ia., Ed Harris and Liz (Futch) Harris of Raytown, and Ann Harris of Fulton. The family also recognizes Brian Cowan and Lena Acton who were family at heart. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Joan Williamson, Kay Williamson Suter, and Carol Williamson Kilpatrick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Joseph Abah officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
