Barbara Jean Lewis, age 87, of Mexico, Mo., passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She was born on August 31, 1930, Everett Gray and Zelia Vertna (Atterberry) Fishburn in Fulton, Mo. She was married to Paul Edgar Lewis on August 26, 1950. Mrs. Lewis worked in the food service industry at Mexico Public Schools and retired in 1992 after 23 years of service. She enjoyed playing continental canasta, was a member of the local Birthday Club, and a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and spending time with family in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul E. Lewis, son Rodger D. Lewis and a brother E. Orville Fishburn. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Debbie Lewis of Perry, Mo.; two daughters, Paula K. (Ted) Marsh of Centralia, Mo. and Debbie S. (Rick) Rickard of Mexico, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jeremy D. Lewis of Pardeeville, Wis., Mechele (Greg) Ogle of Monroe City, Mo., Erica (Gabe) Peters of Columbia, Mo., Carrie Marsh of Columbia, Mo., Emilee (Travous) Lenz of Columbia, Mo., and TJ (Ashley) Marsh of Centralia, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Dalton Lewis, Victoria Lewis, Alexa Lewis, Kenedee Ogle, Sam Ogle, Shawn Marsh, Macade Peters, Mason Marsh, Corbin Peters, Brock Lenz, Gatlin Peters, and Weston Marsh; two sister-in-laws, Priscilla Fishburn of Mexico and Stella Lewis of San Bernardino, Calif. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Pike officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday evening from 5:00 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church, Gift of Life, or charity of donor's choice.
