Marvin Claude Bryant, 90, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center after a fall at his home. Marvin was born June 25, 1927 to Claude "J.C." and Ocie (Watt) Bryant, in Clayton, Missouri. Marvin served in the Army during the end of World War II, in Germany. In 1952, he married Yvonne Harmon in Columbia. They resided in Fulton, where their son and daughter were born. In 1961 they moved to Columbia and made their life with family and many friends. Marvin worked for Columbia Electronics, alongside his brother Paul, for 30 years. He retired in 1990. After his retirement he practiced his hobby of woodworking. He produced many beautiful and creative pieces that are still cherished by many family and friends. He also learned to cane chairs and taught himself how to make baskets. Marvin and Yvonne loved to travel in their motorhome. They enjoyed attending antique steam and gas engine shows through the club, in which they belonged, making many good friends with this common bond. They were also fortunate to take their three grandchildren on several memorable trips in the motorhome. Yvonne has and continues to struggle with Alzheimer's. Marvin was able to be her primary caregiver at their home up until the last few weeks. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne Bryant; children, Ken (Barbara) Bryant and Diane Begemann of Columbia; grandchildren, Eric Begemann and Kate (Austin) Buse-Oberto of Columbia and Nicole (Tony) Richerson of Boonville; great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Taylor Buse-Oberto and Roland Anthony Richerson. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Sue (Jay) Harmon, Earl (Kathy) Bryant and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Joy Johnson, Paul and Lloyd Wayne. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30, at 2 p.m. at the Millersburg Christian Church, 4527 State Road J. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
