Don Blumer

Don Blumer, 76, of Fulton, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at his residence surrounded by loving family. Don was born on November 28, 1940, in Boone County, Missouri, the son of Terry and Helen (Maupin) Blumer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on May 13, 1982 in Fulton to Dorothy Hughes, who survives at the home. Don worked as a welder, pipefitter and ironworker for most of his career. He owned his own welding shop in St. Louis at one time. He served in the United States Marine Corps, traveling to Japan, Vietnam and was in Cuba during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, loved time spent with his family. He is survived by his children: Lora Blumer of Fulton, James Stephens,Jr. of Centralia, Cindy Ward of Texas, and Shelly Worden of Washington; grandchildren: James, Vikki, Courtney, Alicia, Rehanna, Joshua, Alexus; seven great- grandchildren; one brother, Ron Blumer and wife Rigmor of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob, Terry and Larry; and three sisters: Louise, Betty and Geraldine. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home following visitation. Entombment with full military honors will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
