Julia I. Simpson, 71, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Parkside Manor. She was born on May 18, 1946 in Fulton, the daughter of the late Willie J. and Goldie (Branch) Matson. In August of 1962, Julia was united in marriage to Darrell R. "Nip" Simpson. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2015. Julia retired from Fulton State Hospital where she worked as a cook. She loved going with Nip to the Riverview Campground at the Lake and loved showing off Nip's Ford Galaxy at car shows. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her family. Julia will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Diana Stahr of Columbia and Tryxie (Tracy) Moses of Fulton; three grandsons, Matthew Stahr of Columbia, Connor Stahr of Columbia, and James Salmons (Brittanie) of Fulton; and three great-grandchildren, Mikella Gem Stahr of Columbia, Oakley James Tyrone Salmons of Fulton, and Hayden Marcialina Frost of Fulton; brother, James Matson (Linda) of Ohio; and multiple nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Matson; sister-in-law, Delores Loucks; and brothers-in-law, Dale Simpson, and Ronald Loucks. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
