Sterling Talbot Campbell, 81, of Fulton, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Sterling was born August 23, 1934, in Waco, Texas to Mary Lucille (Cunningham) and Benjamin Talbot Campbell. Both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert James Campbell. Sterling attended Waco High School and Baylor University before joining the Marines. He moved to Shreveport, La., where he ran a Tandy leather store and did beautiful hand-tooled leatherwork as a hobby. While there, he met the love of his life, Betty Jean Garrett, who was working across the street. They were married December 19, 1959. She survives him at the home. He worked as an insurance underwriter until moving to Fulton in 1964 to become a partner at Garrett & Campbell. He continued there until his retirement in 1998. Sterling enjoyed photography and developing pictures in his darkroom before the days of digital photos and when he was younger he liked to fly a small plane and could water ski with great skill. He also loved to fish and spent much of his retirement enjoying their spot at a riverside campground with special friends. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Fulton, and a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #48AF and AM. He was also a member of Eastern Star #35 in Fulton. Sterling's life was dedicated to his family. In addition to his wife Betty, Sterling is survived by: one sister, Alice Frasier; three children, Brenda Loeffler, Bud Campbell and wife Glenda and Pamela Doss and husband Bryan. His grandchildren also survive: Christopher and Andrew Loeffler (fiance Brittany Wolters), Dean Campbell (wife Michelle) and Cassie Goosey (husband CJ), Hannah Doss, and step-grandson, Kevin Doss. Great-grandchildren are Caiden Loeffler, Jackson and Emery Campbell and Aven Goosey. He had many special nieces and nephews and Jeff Adams was a special family friend. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at Debo Funeral Home, followed by a Masonic service. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Guy Thomas and Rev. Ron Baker. Entombment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. As was his wish, the pallbearers are his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Southside Baptist Church or the Masonic Lodge.
