Thomas Howard Arms

Thomas Howard Arms, 67, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, into the loving arms of Jesus. He was born on August 25, 1948 in Pekin, Illinois, the son of the late Howard Arms and the late Wilma (Booten) Arms. On February 13, 1988, Tom was united in marriage to Teri (Shay) Arms. She survives his passing. Tom proudly served his country from 1967 until 1973 in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to moving to Missouri, Tom worked at Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois. He spent the majority of his career in various positions at the Callaway Nuclear Plant, retiring in 2007. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus Precious Blood Council 4454 and Divine Mercy 4th Degree Assembly, and VFW Post 2657. He attended St. Peter Catholic Church where he also spent many hours volunteering. Once a person came in contact with Tom, they were drawn to his magnetic personality. Always charismatic and upbeat, he greeted everyone with a smile and kind word. He enjoyed sports, coaching, and spending time with his family. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 28 years; sons, Bret Arms (Jackie) of Columbia, Jeff Arms (Quincy) of Anchorage, Alaska, Aaron Arms of Fulton, and Shay Arms of Fulton; brother, Jack Arms of Peoria Heights, Ill.; grandchildren, Taylor, McKinzie, Josie and Signe Arms; in-laws, Paul and Lenora Shay of Fulton; brother-in-law, Roland Shay (Angie) of Fulton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with a Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
