William Wheat

William Leroy "Roy" Wheat, 92, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away on September 13, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri. Roy was born June 23, 1923, in Fulton, to Lenard and Flosa Messenger Wheat and they preceded him in death. He was married to Ruby Gowin on July 26, 1946, in Fulton and she survives. Roy was a graduate of Fulton High School and he retired from A.P. Green in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 as an armored tank mechanic. He was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Bronze Star. Roy is also survived by daughter, Frances Leona (Dennis) Whyte of Fulton; son, Tony (Pam Engel) Wheat of Fulton; grandchildren, Angela (Kevin) Pederson of Carl Junction, Missouri, Todd (Stephanie) Whyte of Millersburg, Missouri, Terry (Tammy) Wheat of New Bloomfield, Missouri, Jessica Wheat of Sedalia, Missouri and Brian (Kathy) Wheat of Columbia, Missouri; 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-granchildren. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Waneta Strickland and Dollene Eldridge-Moore. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
