Floyd Lawrence

Floyd "Elmer" Lawrence, 82, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of the Fulton area, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico. He was born on May 20, 1933, in Steedman, the son of the late Floyd Lawrence and the late Madonna (Perry) Lawrence. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from military service, he transported mail from the Kansas City area to Columbia and back to Kansas City. He finished his career working for the Overland Park, Kansas School District. Elmer was a devout Christian who loved to praise the Lord by lifting his voice in songs of praise. He was a generous soul who would lend a helping hand to any person in need. Elmer's loss will be deeply felt by his family; daughter, Brenda Stinson of Gallatin; brothers, Charles E. Lawrence (Naomi) of Fulton, Kenneth Lawrence (Linda) of Bismarck, and Curtis Lawrence (Lucy) of Moberly; grandsons, Kyle and Anthony Stinson; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, John, and Norman Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Church of God (Holiness) with Reverend Travis Sayler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
