Jeanetta Jean Palmer, 90, of Jefferson City, died on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at St. Joseph's Bluffs. She was born June 25, 1925, in Defiance, Missouri, a daughter of the late Henry and Elsie (Riske) Schneider. She was a 1943 graduate of Mokane High School in Mokane, Missouri. On December 6, 1944, Jeanetta was united in marriage in New Bloomfield, Missouri, to Harry Edward Palmer, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1987. Jeanetta was a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service, where she was employed for 23 years until her retirement in 1985 after working at the New Bloomfield, Jefferson City, Holts Summit, Ashland and Cedar City Post Offices and the Columbia Regional Airport mail facility. During World War II, she was a typist for the Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. During 1960, she was a census taker in Callaway County for the U.S. Census Bureau. In addition, she served as a Democratic election judge in New Bloomfield and Jefferson City during several national, state and local elections. Jeanetta was a member of Community Christian Church in Jefferson City where she served in several capacities, including Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus. She was also a member of the National and Missouri Rural Letter Carriers' Association Auxiliaries, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Cherry Street Workers Club in Jefferson City, and the Slusher Club and Filmore Club, both in New Bloomfield. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed collecting Cardinals memorabilia as well as pictures, plates and figurines of cardinals. Jeanetta is survived by two sons: Rodger Palmer and his wife Joan Aitken of Clermont, Florida; Randall Palmer and his partner Daniel Leach of Jefferson City; one sister: Delores "Sis" Swain Dodson of Boonville, Missouri; and two grandchildren: Copper Aitken-Palmer of Fort Valley, Virginia and Wade Aitken-Palmer and his fiancÈe Erinn Kunik of Salt Lake City, Utah. Jeanetta was also preceded in death by her twin sister: Henrietta Finley; and two brothers: Forrest Schneider and Gilbert Schneider. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, in the Sanctuary of Community Christian Church, 409 Ellis Boulevard, Jefferson City. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, the Sanctuary of Community Christian Church with the Reverend Coletta Eichenberger officiating. Interment will follow in Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Missouri.
