Walter Donald Woods

Walter Donald "Don" Woods, 74, of Auxvasse, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Presbyterian Manor in Fulton, Mo., after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 3, 1940, in Paris, Mo., the son of Edward Pine Woods and Anna Maria Magdalena (Christoffer) Woods. In June, 1967, he was united in marriage to Margaret (Dunn) Woods who survives at the home. A lifelong farmer in the Auxvasse area, Don farmed with his brother-in-law, Richard Gastler until his death and operated Woods & Dunn Farms with his brother-in-law, Bill Dunn, for more than 40 years. Don and Margaret owned Prairie Lakes Enterprises, Inc. until retirement in 2007. He enjoyed restoring and collecting International tractors. Was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville where he served on the Board of Elders and other church offices. In addition to his wife, Don will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three sons, Jeff Woods and granddaughter, Morgan of Colorado Springs, Co., Jason Woods and wife, Jana, grandchildren, Erica and Davis of Auxvasse, Mo., Jamie Woods and wife, Destini, grandchildren, Logan and Haven of Auxvasse, Mo.; brother-in-law, Bill Dunn and wife, Ellalou of Auxvasse, Mo., sister-in-law, Mary Moore and husband, Malcom of Auxvasse, Mo. and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Richard Gastler; sister, Darlene Keller; brother-in-law, Carl Keller; sister, Charlotte Cheney and brother-in-law, David Cheney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville with Pastor Luke Wolters officiating. Burial will follow at Auxvasse Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church in Wellsville. Condolences at www.arnoldfh.com
