James William Lawrence, 85, of Fulton, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Missouri Veteran's Home of Mexico, Missouri. "Jim" was born July 29, 1929, in Reform, Missouri, to Floyd and Madonna Perry Lawrence. He married Betty Mae Salmons on June 26, 1949, at her parents' home in Fulton, Missouri. They enjoyed 61 years of life together and were the parents of one son, Terry. Jim was a Godly man and a member of the Fulton Church of God (Holiness) where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for five decades, as well as a board member, bus driver and worship leader. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1956 during the Korean War. Jim always felt it was an honor to work for Danuser Machine Company and still holds the record there for most years of service - 51 years! He drove their 18-wheeeler over three million miles during that time. One of his greatest joys was serving on the Church of God (Holiness) Youth Council and helping establish and build Harmony Hill Youth Camp over 50 years ago. He remained a faithful supporter and worker through the years. He loved his family passionately. He was a friend to everyone and always had a smile and an encouraging word. Jim will be greatly missed. He is survived by his only son, Terry and his daughter-in-law, Carolyn, of Hudson, Ohio; granddaughter, Lori (Andrew) Thomas of Hudson, Ohio; grandson, James (Merideth) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Charles (Naomi) of Fulton; Elmer of Mexico, Missouri; Kenneth (Linda) of Bismarck, Missouri; Curtis (Lucille) of Moberly, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Marcella Lawrence of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Madonna; his wife, Betty; a grandson, Ryan Lawrence; and his brothers, John and Norman Lawrence. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of God (Holiness) in Fulton with Pastor Travis Sayler officiating. Interment will be at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Maupin Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made in Jim's name to Harmony Hill Youth Camp or Kansas City College and Bible School, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
