James H. Purcell, 55, of Steedman, Mo., passed away on August 10, 2015, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Jim was born August 18, 1959, in Tampa, Fla., to Howard and June Stotter Purcell. He was married to Melinda Conner on August 4, 1984, in Holts Summit, Mo. He was a 1977 graduate of Fulton High School and began working for the Ameren Missouri Nuclear Plant on June 13, 1983. He worked there for the next 33 years. Jim had a strong love of the outdoors, he enjoyed coaching baseball and tinkering on cars. His survivors include his wife, Melinda of Steedman; father, Howard (Mildred) Purcell of New Bloomfield; mother, June B. Purcell of Fulton; sons, Daniel (Jessica) Purcell of Fulton and Jerry Maddox of Auxvasse; daughter, Christy (Ryan) Barkho of Fulton; sisters, Sharon (Thomas) Hayes of Fulton, Chris (Donnie) Knott of Fulton and Bev (Larry) Findley of Brownsville, Texas; grandchildren, Lillian, Dalton, Tyson and Layla. Services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Family and close friends will gather for a burial on the Purcell farm on Tuesday, August 18.
