Marie Antoinette "Toni" (Doman) Hinchie, 92, of Fulton, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, August 9th, 2015. Toni was born on July 4th, 1923, to the late William Doman and Rose "Daisy" (Day) Doman in Leavenworth, Kansas as the cannons at Fort Leavenworth boomed for the Fourth of July. One of her favorite childhood memories was her mother taking her to a lecture by Helen Keller, and being called on stage with her. After high school, she attended St. Mary's University in Leavenworth where she studied music and art, later becoming a teacher at the Fort Leavenworth School. During the 1940's, she played bass violin for the Kansas City Orchestra, an experience she remembered fondly. On December 26, 1957, she married LTC John C. Hinchie at the old Cathedral in Leavenworth, Kan. After her husband retired from the military in 1961, they settled with their two sons in his home state of Minnesota. After she was widowed in 1993, she wanted to be closer to family, so in 1996 she moved to Fulton, Mo., next door to her son Bill, his wife Carol, and her grandkids whom she loved seeing every day. She practically wallpapered her kitchen and dining room with their artwork. Toni was always active at church, whether as a prayer leader, Sunday School teacher, Daily Mass participant, member of the quilting group, or extra time spent in prayer at Adoration. Even when her health limited her mobility to a wheelchair, she came to Mass with her family. She was well loved by her church family, as evidenced by the number of people who hugged her every Sunday or asked about her if her health kept her at home. Toni was preceded in death by her husband, John Sr.; her son, John Jr.; and sister, Frances Wilhelmina "Tibby" (Doman) Scheffer. She is survived by her son Bill, his wife Carol, and five grandchildren Josh, Angela, Mary, Joseph and Teresa Hinchie, 3 cats and 1 dog. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Maupin Funeral Home with a Rosary being held at 7:15 p.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Peter's Fund for the Poor, St. Vincent De Paul Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
