Carlene Huesgen, 72, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2015, after living courageously with Lupus and then with Alzheimer's disease. Carlene was born in Fulton, Missouri, the daughter of the late Carl Davis and the late Mary Caroline (Harris) Davis. She grew up on a farm. She raised animals and spoke fondly of participating in 4-H. She attended a one room schoolhouse and went on to earn a degree at William Woods College. After marrying, she lived briefly in Longbranch, New Jersey before moving to Tucson, Arizona where she lived for over 40 years and raised her two children. In Tucson, Carlene worked for the University of Arizona in the departments of Classics and then Agriculture. Her work in Classics afforded her the opportunity to travel to Cyprus and Italy while participating in archeological digs. While working in the Department of Agriculture, Carlene also became a Master Gardener. Carlene loved animals, photography, gardening and travel. She was active in church, singing in the choir and becoming a deacon. She loved bluegrass music and church hymns. Those remaining to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her children, Jeffery Huesgen (Robin) of Tucson, Arizona, and Carla Wittenberg (Evan) of Palo Alto, California; brother, Clark Davis (Mary) of Fulton; sister, Sharon Quick (Bob) of Fulton; and grandchildren, Tai, Ryn, Jora, Raefe, Mila, Dylan, Logan, and Calder. Her children are very grateful to Sharon and Bob Quick for helping to take care of her as her disease advanced. Carlene's family is grateful to the wonderful care the staff at The Arbors in Mexico, Missouri and the staff at Fulton Manor provided. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday May 3, 2015 at Callaway Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bill Nigus officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to Central Christian Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
